Overview
Switch between AI models during a chat session to adjust reasoning capabilities, response speed, or specialized knowledge. TeamAI provides two methods for changing models: Standard Mode for guided selection with recommendations, and Advanced Mode for direct access to all model settings and parameters.
Learning Objectives:
Identify the two methods for changing chat models (Standard vs. Advanced).
Use Standard Mode for guided model selection with smart recommendations.
Access Advanced Mode for direct control over model parameters.
Select an alternative model from the available list.
Save model changes for the current chat session.
Understand when to use each method based on your technical comfort level.
Prerequisites
You'll Need:
Access to a workspace with multiple AI models enabled
An active chat session (new or existing)
An understanding of available model capabilities (check with your administrator)
Permission to change chat settings (enabled by default for chat creators)
Note: Model availability depends on your workspace plan and administrator settings. Some models may require specific subscriptions.

Result: The chat loads with the currently selected model active.
Tip: Standard Mode is the default view and provides model recommendations based on your conversation context.
Method 2: Change Model Using Advanced Mode
Access the Model Selector
Result: The chat loads with the currently selected model active.
Tip: Standard Mode is the default view and provides model recommendations based on your conversation context.
Best Practices
Use Standard Mode for most changes: The guided interface with recommendations helps you select appropriate models without technical knowledge.
Set the model at chat creation: Choose your model when starting a new chat to maintain consistency throughout the conversation.
Match model to task complexity: Use fast models for brainstorming, advanced models for problem-solving. Standard Mode typically recommends appropriate models.
Test comparisons: For critical work, test the same prompt with both methods to see which produces better results for your workflow.
Consider team consistency: If your team has standardized on specific models, use those even if Advanced Mode suggests alternatives.
Common Questions
Q: Will other participants see which method I used to change the model?
A: No. Model changes appear identical to other participants regardless of whether you used Standard or Advanced Mode.
Q: Are model changes permanent?
A: No. You can change the model as often as needed using either method. Changes apply immediately to future messages.
