Best Practices
Name chats immediately after creation: Don't leave chats as "New Chat" - rename them when the purpose becomes clear to avoid confusion later.
Use consistent naming conventions: Establish team-wide standards for chat names to make searching and organization easier for everyone.
Be specific but concise: Include enough detail to identify the chat's purpose without making names excessively long (aim for under 50 characters).
Rename when scope changes: If a chat evolves from its original purpose, update the name to reflect its current use to help others understand the conversation context.
Use prefixes for identification: Consider using consistent prefixes like "DRAFT", "FINAL", "URGENT", or department codes for quick visual scanning.
Common Questions
Q: Can I rename a chat someone else created?
A: Only if you have been granted editor permissions on that chat. Otherwise, the rename option will not appear in the Actions menu. Contact the chat owner to request permissions.
Q: Is there a limit to how many times I can rename a chat?
A: No. You can rename a chat as many times as needed. There are no restrictions or penalties for frequent renaming.
Q: What happens if two people try to rename the same chat simultaneously?
A: The first change to be saved takes precedence. The second person will see the updated name and can modify it further if needed. No conflict warnings appear.
