Overview
TeamAI utilizes a memory system to personalize interactions by recalling information from past conversations. This article explains how this system works, what information it retains, and how it enables a more tailored and informed experience.
Learning Objectives:
Understand how TeamAI's conversational memory system works.
Learn what information is remembered and what is not.
Discover the information retention timeline for memories.
Learn how to update TeamAI's memory.
Prerequisites
You'll Need:
Active workspace membership.
Basic understanding of interacting with TeamAI.
TeamAI's Conversational Memory System
TeamAI retains information from your past conversations to provide a more personalized and informed experience.
What TeamAI Remembers
The memory system extracts key information, including:
Your work context and current focus.
Your communication style and preferences.
Projects we have discussed.
Specific topics you've asked TeamAI to remember.
What TeamAI Does Not Remember
TeamAI's memory system does not store:
Every detail of every conversation.
Information from conversations you have deleted.
Very recent conversations that have not yet been processed.
Sensitive data such as passwords or private information.
Information Retention Timeline
Information is retained based on the following:
Persistent Memories (Across Sessions): Information extracted from your conversations becomes part of a persistent memory profile that carries over between sessions. These memories update periodically in the background as conversations occur and persist until actively removed. There is no explicit expiration timeline; they endure until removed or purged.
Derived from Deleted Conversations: When you delete conversations, any information derived from those conversations is eventually removed from memory. This cleanup process typically occurs nightly. Therefore, memories linked solely to deleted conversations usually persist for less than 24 hours before being purged.
Recent Conversations: Very recent interactions may not be immediately reflected in TeamAI's memory. The system processes and updates periodically, meaning newly discussed information might not be instantaneously available in memory until the next processing cycle.
Result: Active information from non-deleted conversations is retained indefinitely across sessions. Information from deleted conversations is purged within approximately 24 hours. New information may not be immediately available until processed.
How to Update TeamAI's Memory
You can directly influence what TeamAI remembers or forgets:
Request to Remember: Use phrases like "Remember that I prefer [preference]" or "I moved to [location]".
Request to Forget: Use phrases like "Forget about [topic]" or "I no longer work at [Company X]".
Note: When you make these requests, TeamAI utilizes an internal memory management tool to update its stored information. This process is distinct from managing your regular conversation history.
Option 2: Manage Memory from Settings
You can also enable, disable, or directly manage memory from your account settings.
Click your profile icon or navigate to Settings
Go to Preferences
Select AI Memory & Learning
Toggle Enable AI Memory on or off to activate or deactivate the memory system
To review and edit stored memories:
In the same AI Memory & Learning section, click Manage Memory
You'll see a list of all information TeamAI has stored from your conversations so far
Click the pencil icon to open a prompt field
Type a message telling TeamAI what to remember or forget (for example: "Forget that I work at Acme Corp" or "Remember that I prefer bullet-point summaries")
Send the message to apply the update
To manage instructions:
In the same AI Memory & Learning section, click Manage Memory
You'll see a list of all information TeamAI has stored from your conversations so far
Click the Manage edits to open all the instructions you've given TeamAI
Best Practices
Be Explicit: Clearly state what you want TeamAI to remember or forget to ensure accurate updates.
Regular Review: Periodically review TeamAI's understanding of your preferences by asking what it remembers to ensure accuracy.
Common Questions
If I delete a conversation, does TeamAI immediately forget everything we discussed?
Information derived from deleted conversations is typically removed from TeamAI's memory during a nightly cleanup process, meaning it may persist for up to 24 hours after deletion.
Can I prevent TeamAI from remembering certain information from our chats?
You can explicitly ask TeamAI to "forget about [topic]" to remove specific information from its memory. Managing your conversation history can also help prevent information from being stored in memory.
Are my personal preferences stored in the workspace context or memory system? Your personal preferences learned from conversations are stored in your individual memory profile within the memory system.
