Overview
Enter text into the chat input field to communicate with the AI assistant. This fundamental action—clicking, typing, and submitting—is the cornerstone of all interactions in TeamAI. Mastering this basic workflow enables every other feature and capability.
Learning Objectives:
Locate and activate the message input field
Enter clear, effective prompts and questions
Submit prompts using keyboard or mouse methods
Understand the relationship between prompts and AI responses
Troubleshoot common input issues
Prerequisites
You'll Need:
Access to a workspace
An active chat session (new or existing)
A keyboard (physical or on-screen)
Basic typing ability
Tip: If you're using a mobile device, the input field works the same way—just tap instead of clicking.
Typing and Submitting Your Prompt
Access the Input Field
Navigate to your active chat in the main panel
Locate the message input field at the bottom of the chat window (white box with placeholder text)
Click inside the input field to activate it
Result: Your cursor appears in the input field, indicating it's ready for text entry.
Note: The input field is always visible at the bottom of the chat panel when a chat is active.
Type Your Prompt
Begin typing your question, instruction, or content
Review your text as it appears in the field
Result: Your prompt appears in the input field as you type.
Tip: Write clear, specific prompts. Instead of "help," try "Help me write a professional email to my client about project delays."
Submit Your Prompt
Method 1: Keyboard (Enter Key)
Press the "Enter" key on your keyboard
Result: The prompt is sent to the AI and appears in the chat conversation above the input field.
Note: The Enter key sends the message immediately. If you need a new line, use Shift+Enter instead.
Method 2: Mouse (Arrow Button)
Locate the arrow button (▲) inside the right side of the input field
Click the arrow button with your mouse or trackpad
Result: The prompt is sent to the AI and appears in the chat conversation above the input field.
Tip: Use the arrow button when typing long prompts and you want to avoid accidentally pressing Enter too soon.
Best Practices
Write clear prompts: Use specific language. "Write a 200-word summary about renewable energy" produces better results than "write something about energy."
Break complex requests into parts: For multi-step tasks, submit separate prompts for each step rather than one massive request.
Use proper spelling and grammar: While the AI can understand misspellings, correct language produces more accurate responses.
Start with context: Brief context helps the AI understand your needs. Example: "I'm preparing a presentation for executives. Summarize this data in business terms."
Check before submitting: Review your prompt for clarity and completeness before pressing Enter or clicking the arrow.
Use Shift+Enter for line breaks: If you need to format your prompt with multiple paragraphs, hold Shift while pressing Enter to create a new line without submitting.
