Overview
Transform spoken words into text messages using the voice input feature located in the chat interface. This tutorial guides you through enabling microphone access, selecting your language, and configuring automatic sending options for hands-free communication.
Learning Objectives:
Locate and activate the voice input microphone icon
Select your preferred language for speech recognition
Configure auto-send settings based on your workflow
Save your preferences for persistent behavior across chats
Prerequisites
You'll Need:
Access to a workspace with voice input feature enabled
A device with a functional microphone (built-in or external)
Browser permission to access your microphone when prompted
A quiet environment for optimal speech recognition accuracy
Tip: If you don't see the microphone icon, your workspace administrator may have disabled voice input. Contact them to request feature activation.
Using Voice Input in Chats
Access and Activate Voice Input
Navigate to the message input field located at the bottom of the main chat panel
Click the microphone icon (π€) positioned on the right side of the input field
βGrant microphone permission when your browser prompts "TeamAI wants to use your available microphone" (click "Allow while visiting the site")
Result: The microphone icon changes indicating voice input is active.
Note: Browser permissions are required only on first use. Your browser remembers this setting for subsequent sessions.
Language Detection and Configuration
Begin speaking immediately - the system automatically detects your language within 2-3 seconds
Listen for the tone confirmation (a short beep) indicating the system is actively transcribing
Result: The system displays the detected language next to the microphone icon and begins accurate speech-to-text processing.
Tip: Speak clearly in the first few seconds to ensure accurate language detection. The system supports 40+ languages and automatically adjusts to your speech.
Begin Recording and Transcribing
Click the microphone icon
Speak clearly into your microphone at a normal conversational volume
Click the light blue circle to stop recording and send the message
Review the transcribed text that appears in the message input field
Result: Your spoken words appear as text in the chat conversation and are visible to all chat participants.
Best Practices
Speak at a moderate pace: Speaking too quickly reduces accuracy. Enunciate clearly and pause briefly between sentences for better punctuation.
Review before sending: With auto-send disabled, always proofread the transcription. Speech-to-text may misinterpret technical terms, names, or industry jargon.
Use for drafts, not final copy: Treat voice input as a first draft generator. Edit for clarity, tone, and accuracy before sending important messages.
Let language detection work: Don't try to "help" the system by speaking slowly during language detection. Natural speech provides the best sample for accurate identification.
Disable when not needed: Click the microphone icon again to deactivate voice input and return to typing.
